I love the holiday season! One of my favorite things about this time of year are the parties!! This year, the firm holiday party was held at the Ritz in Dallas. I went with my girlfriends and we had a great time!

Day 349: December 16, 2011

Tonight, one of my audit engagement teams is having a Christmas party and White Elephant gift exchange. When I was in high school, I received Spam at an orchestra White Elephant gift exchange. I've been traumatized every since.

In hopes of getting a good gift, I bought a really nice gift I thought someone would enjoy... Maybe my White Elephant history will have a happier ending this time around.

Day 350: December 15, 2011

I'm quite lucky to have a window in my audit room at my client. Today, for the first time ever, I got to watch the window washers do their magic. I am not envious of their job. I think I'll stick to auditing.

Day 348: December 14, 2011

Typically, audit rooms and quiet, and quite frankly, boring. This week, my client is remodeling, and my audit room has been anything but quiet and boring!! There were times I thought the contractors were going to bust through my audit room wall with a saw. It made for an interesting work experience!

Day 346: December 12, 2011

I am FIVE days away from my Christmas vacation! I can't wait to spend the holidays with my family. My favorite Santa Frankie is going to get spoiled to pieces during my time off from work. I have quite the calendar of plans during my vacation- I can't wait!

Day 326: November 22, 2011

I am thankful for a my engagement team. As an auditor, I work very closely with coworkers, in a conference room, where we spend a lot of time together. I've been very blessed to have met some of my best friends at the firm. I work with very smart and talented coworkers, who challenge me and encourage me, especially during busy season. I have learned many valuable lessons through my coworkers and I am grateful for everything they have taught me.

I am thankful for my generous PTO (paid time off) that I earn at the firm I work at. I'm looking forward to have FIVE days off, Wednesday-Sunday, to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family.

Day 299: October 26, 2011

Since the debut of the iPhone 4Gs, I have been patiently waiting to get my very own!





It finally arrived today! I wish I didn't have to work so I could go home and play with my new phone. But since my job affords me to have such luxuries like new iPhones, I'll have to wait patiently until this evening after I get off work.

Day 298: October 25, 2011

Tonight, I attended the Bike MS Awards Dinner for the 2011 Ride. Team Deloitte won an award for most growth from the 2010 ride to the 2011 ride! I accepted the award with honor.


I am proud to be the captain of Team Deloitte, which raised over $20,000 for the National MS Society and is one of the Top 20 Fundraisers for the second consecutive year. I can't wait to see what the 2012 Bike MS Ride will bring. It is sure to be a good ride!

Day 282: October 9, 2011

My final business trip of the year (I think...and hope!) was to Boston, Massachusetts.

Boston is a beautiful and historic city. I wish I would have more time to see all of the historic sites. I was most excited about trying New England Clam Chowder!



I wasn't disappointed- it was delicious! I managed to have a bowl at nearly every meal!

I remember watching the Mary Tyler Moore show when I was a kid. She threw her hat up in front of the building my mom used to work at when she was about my age.

I'm gonna make it after all.

After spending my Sunday counting inventory in a 34 degree cooler, it is a good thing that I enjoy being a CPA.

Happy Labor Day!

And that's exactly what I did- I enjoyed my day off from work by reading poolside and soaking up the last bit of summer.

Day 239: August 27, 2011

Final stop- Omaha, Nebraska.



On my drive from Le Mars, Iowa, I saw endless corn fields.



And lots of flooding.



I noticed on all the bridges near the river there were huge bags with rocks and sand in them to keep the water off the roads. The flooding is devastating to the farmland in the area. As Texas is in severe drought conditions, the Midwest is suffering from extreme flooding.

Next stop- Le Mars, Iowa.


Population: < 10,000.

One of my favorite things about traveling is experiencing the local eateries. Archie's Waeside came highly recommended. Archie's was ranked number 2 out of 64 restaurants in Rachael Rays March Madness Bracket of top Steak Houses in the Country. It was a true hometown steakhouse.

First stop in my tri-state Midwest trek: Sioux Falls, SD!


I landed late at night, when the sun was down and the wind was blowing. I got real goosebumps. This Texas girl is used to the heat!

Day 236: August 24, 2011

As I packed for my work trip to the Midwest, I had to dig in deep in my closet for clothes appropriate for cooler weather. My trip itinerary: a late flight into Sioux Falls, SD with an overnight hotel stay, a drive to Le Mars, Iowa where my client's plant is located, with an overnight stay at the classiest hotel in town- Holiday Inn, and a drive to Omaha, Nebraska, for an overnight stay in the hip area of Old Town, for an early morning flight home.

I'm most looking forward to cooler temperatures- a much need break from the heat.

Someone hit an electrical box near my client and it knocked out the power for a couple hours. Rather than leaving the site, we toughed it out and audited by candle light. Or rather modern day candle light- the light given off by our laptop computer screens.

Day 230: August 18, 2011

As a special treat this summer, the firm I work for has sponsored a couple happy hours.

It's a nice excuse to have a couple drinks, mingle with coworkers/friends, and enjoy the non-busy season.
