Day 55: Februray 24, 2011

Thank you. Two powerful words that mean a lot.

My mom taught me, at a young age, to use proper manners, 'please' and 'thank you'. She also taught me to write thank you notes to people if they gave me gifts or spent time helping me, etc.

I'm thankful that she taught me this lesson, among many other things. I know it has helped me become who I am today. Thanks Mom!

Day 54: February 23, 2011

While I'm busy auditing, Frankie is busy chewing on a bone in the care of my parents. He looks pretty spoiled and happy about the situation, and I can see why!

Day 53: February 22, 2011

I learned from my mom at a young age, dessert will make almost any day better. And this one did the trick.

Day 52: February 21, 2011

I called the Marriott 'home' this week. As busy season gets even busier, and my client is nearly an hour drive away from my apartment, I decided to stay in the hotel right around the corner. I loved the 5 minute commute and the luxury of staying in a hotel, which includes cable TV and a maid to make my bed!

Day 51: February 20, 2011

Although I'm a native Texan, until today, I had never been to a gun show.

It was a cultural experience, to say the least.

Day 50: February 19, 2011

After a long week of work, Mom and Darrell treated me out to a wonderful dinner at Bob's Steakhouse.

Good food. Good company. And of course, good dessert. It doesn't get better than that.

Day 49: February 18, 2011

No Strings Attached, starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher.

My favorite line from the movie: "You make my heart have premature ventricular contractions." In other words, you make my heart skip a beat.

Day 48: February 17, 2011

Frankie playing hide-n-seek at my parent's house. Can you find him? I think he forgets he has a tail.

Day 47: February 16, 2011

I laughed pretty hard, as it is pretty accurate comic strip of life in public accounting.

Day 46: February 15, 2011

My mom took this picture of Frankie while she was taking care of him for me during busy season. I just love it. Good picture, Mom.

Day 44, February 13, 2011

In true Texas weather fashion, this weekend was beautiful! I went for my second bike ride of the season, the Donut Ride again. This time, since I was already fully aware there was NOT a stop at a donut shop, I stopped at a Starbucks for a pit stop on my 18.3 mile bike ride. What a great Sunday morning!

Day 43: February 12, 2011

After work on Saturday, I went for a run near Alliance Airport. It was a beautiful evening. I have a lot of training to do before my third half-marathon on March 27.

Day 42: February 11, 2011

"A faithful friend is the medicine of life."
-- Apocrypha

I'm lucky to have found a true friend in Cynthia.

Day 41: Februray 10, 2011

Frankie.

Too cute for words.

Day 40: February 9, 2011

Snow Day!!!

Frankie and I spent another snow day together. It was fun while it lasted, but as a native Texan, I'm ready to enjoy warmer weather. I've had enough of winter this year.

Day 39: February 8, 2011

The weatherman is predicting that Texas is going to get hit with another snow/ice storm on Wednesday. Frankie is prepared this time!

Day 38: February 7, 2011

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..."
— Dr. Seuss (Oh, the Places You'll Go!)

When I was a little girl, I remember reading "Green Eggs & Ham" by Dr. Seuss with my mom. She even made the dish a time or two for me! Here I am, nearly twenty years later, and I found this quote to be meaningful, especially during busy season.

Day 37: February 6, 2011

Dallas hosted Super Bowl XLV! The weeks leading up to the big game were very exciting around town!!

Dallas- home of Super Bowl XLV!

The Dallas Convention Center hosted the NFL Experience. I look small in the middle of the HUGE XLV Roman Numerals in downtown Dallas.

Bird's eye view of the Super Bowl!

On my way back to DFW from PHX, the pilots flew us right near Cowboy's Stadium for a bird's eye view of the Super Bowl festivities.

Day 36: February 5, 2011

Happy 80th Birthday Grandma Rita!

Grandma with some of her grand kids

Me with Grandma and my aunts- Jeannie and Mari

I went to PHX for the weekend to help celebrate my grandma's 80th birthday!! It was so much fun spending the weekend with my grandma, aunts and cousins. We're all spread out across the country and don't get together nearly often enough. I am very glad I was able to take some time during busy season to attend Grandma's very special birthday party!

Day 35: February 4, 2011

Good thing my commute to work doesn't normally look like this.

I'm spoiled living in Texas, and I think I like it that way!

Day 34: February 3, 2011

Lexi (my car) covered in snow!

The fun in the snow continues! I went back to work after two snow days at home. My 45 mile commute took over one hour and 45 minutes! Since I knew the weather was bad, I brought a change of clothes for Friday and had my bags packed for my trip to PHX, so I stayed in the hotel across the street from my client.

Good thing Texas doesn't normally have weather like this, I couldn't handle it!

Day 33: February 2, 2011

Snow Day #2. Frankie and I spent most of our day sitting on the couch, trying to stay warm between the rolling blackouts. While he munched on a bone, I grabbed a spoon and went to town on this tasty treat. It may have been frightful outside, but Frankie and I were nice and cozy inside enjoying our 'treats'.

Looks like it is back to reality tomorrow... I already have my alarm set for work. I'm going to try and beat the traffic on my long commute to Fort Worth. Just in case, my bags are packed for PHX. (See Mom, I do listen!)

Day 32: February 1, 2011

SNOW DAY!!!!!!!

Frankie and I cuddled, play and I squeezed in a little work. We enjoyed the snow day and we're hoping for round two tomorrow! :)
