On September 11, 2001 I was a sophomore in high school in chemistry class when the first plane hit the World Trade Center tower. It was a surreal day, watching our nation being attacked by foreign radicals. I will never forget that day. I will never forget watching the towers fall. I will never forget seeing weeping family and friends who lost loved ones in the attacks. I will never forget the eerie quiet in the skies for several days as planes were grounded.
I will never forget.
I will always remember those who lost their lives that day. I will always remember how the nation came together as a country, to honor the victims. I will always remember those who continue to fight for our freedom.
I will always remember.

The air is cool,
the sky is dark.
Your muscles relax,
while nature's breath fills your lungs.
You have accomplished your tasks,
felt the pain,
and endured the pressure.
A pressure so immense,
that you lived to escape.
You have climbed to the very peak of the mountain,
and now relax on a rock,
high above the trees,
while others sleep.
You are enveloped by nature's beauty,
for just a moment you abandon your incarcerated body,
wholly relinquishing your ties to human nature,
and for only an instant,
you become part of God,
you are free.
