Day 347: December 13, 2011

Tonight, I hosted Girls Night at my apartment. I made Turkey burgers and sweet potato fries, and served my favorite wine. My girl friends brought the salad and dessert.

We had a great time visiting and catching up before everyone heads out of town to celebrate Christmas. I am so blessed to have amazing girl friends.

Day 343: December 9, 2011

One of my favorite things about Dallas is the variety of restaurants! We have so many awesome places to eat!! On Friday, I went to The Cedars Social with my Mom and Darrell and a few family friends for a lovely dinner. Good food, good drinks, good company.

Day 283: October 10, 2011

One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to try the local hot spots! I went to Mike's Pasty in Boston's North End.

I got the double chocolate cannoli. It was so rich and delicious!

Day 282: October 9, 2011

My final business trip of the year (I think...and hope!) was to Boston, Massachusetts.

Boston is a beautiful and historic city. I wish I would have more time to see all of the historic sites. I was most excited about trying New England Clam Chowder!

I wasn't disappointed- it was delicious! I managed to have a bowl at nearly every meal!

Day 276: October 3, 2011

I love holiday drinks, like Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice Latte. So it is no surprise that as soon as I heard about Orange Chocolate Milk for Halloween, I knew I needed to try it.

What's not to love, its festive and chocolate!

Day 275: October 2, 2011

I went to Joe T Garcia's in Fort Worth for dinner. There was a bit of a wait, but it was totally worth it. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful Texas 'fall' weather. The food was delicious and the margaritas were amazing.

I'm already looking forward to my next trip!

Day 249: September 6, 2011

Today was the official launch of the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks.

I, of course, had to have one on its very first day. It signals the end of summer, and the beginning of the other season in Texas, not summer. Spring, Fall and Winter don't exist in Texas, it is just summer (hot) or not summer (not hot).

I love the holiday drinks. Next up- Gingerbread Latte in November! I can't wait!

Day 244: September 1, 2011

I find it hard to believe I've only blogged about Starbucks twice- here and here.

Today was a Starbucks morning. I needed the sweet taste of my favorite beverage- Double Tall Soy No Foam Upside down Carmel Macchiato.

Day 238: August 26, 2011

Next stop- Le Mars, Iowa.

Population: < 10,000.

One of my favorite things about traveling is experiencing the local eateries. Archie's Waeside came highly recommended. Archie's was ranked number 2 out of 64 restaurants in Rachael Rays March Madness Bracket of top Steak Houses in the Country. It was a true hometown steakhouse.

Day 231: August 19, 2011

Darrell and I share the same passion for football, bike riding, wine and sushi!

As a special treat on Friday night, Darrell and I went out for a sushi dinner. The sushi was delicious, but the company was the best part of the evening.

Day 227: August 15, 2011

This summer has been filled with time at the pool, good books, time with good friends, good food and plenty of frozen yogurt. It makes the extreme heat more bearable.

Yumi-Licious is yummy indeed. Especially when consumed in the company of good girl friends on a hot summer evening.

Day 225: August 13, 2011

Having recently just started to dabble with eating Indian food, I was excited to try a new restaurant.

I went to the Clay Pit on Saturday and had a lamb dish and plenty of naan. Maybe one day I'll be adventurous enough to attempt to make lamb.

Day 219: August 7, 2011

I saw this photo on Pinterest and knew McMaria Egg McMuffins were in my breakfast future.

I baked the eggs for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. I toasted English muffins, placed the perfectly shaped eggs on the muffins, and added feta cheese. McDonald's ain't got nothin' on McMaria Egg McMuffin.

Day 218: August 6, 2011

After seeing a delicious homemade pizza on one of my favorite blogs, Eat Live Run, I knew I had to try and make my own homemade pizza. Having never dabbled with making my own dough, I was kind of nervous! After I made the dough, I knew I couldn't wait patiently and be within twenty feet of the rising dough without peaking every two seconds, so I forced myself to go out to my pool and let the dough rise in peace. After I came inside, with a suntan glow, the dough had at least doubled inside- success! I rolled out the dough, added part tomato paste and part tomato pesto for the sauce, piled on Parmesan cheese, artichoke hearts, cooked chicken and halved grape tomatoes and threw it in the oven.

I think my first try at homemade pizza was a success! I can't wait to experiment with different pizza toppings.

Day 216: August 4, 2011

I had an engagement team dinner at III Forks, one of Dallas' many great steakhouses. As we had eighteen people, whom are known to get rowdy, we had a private room, the Captain's Room. I ordered the surf and turf special, 6 oz fillet and King Crab legs. For dessert, I split a 'too many layers to count' chocolate cake and chocolate moose. The dinner was fabulous, the company was entertaining, and the night overall was very enjoyable.

Day 203: July 22, 2011

Yum does come in pint sizes.

I made a remarkable discovery while grocery shopping. One of my favorite ice cream companies (it is really a tie between Blue Bell and Ben & Jerry's) now makes frozen yogurt. My favorite Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor is Phish Food, but this froyo tastes delicious and is slightly healthier. I think?

Day 199: July 18, 2011

Monday night has become girl's night and TV watching. Last night we tried a new take out place, Angelo's Italian Grill.

We had a large Sausage Pomodora Pizza and Baked Ziti with Meatballs, and of course wine and dessert. We were happy, and well fed ladies.

Sunday, July 17, 2011

Day 198: July 17, 2011

Sunday was family dinner night. Darrell grilled fish on the grill. He's an excellent grill master. For Father's Day, I gave him wood planks to use while grilling.

Not only was the salmon picture perfect on the plank, but it was delicious.

Day 192: July 11, 2011

On Monday, a few of my closest girl friends and I got together to watch TV, drink wine, eat Vietnamese food, and enjoy delicious dessert. Needless to say, we had a fantastic evening, full of laughs.

We watched Shameless and Weeds.

Day 189: July 8, 2011

I love finding and trying new recipes! One of my favorite blogs, Eat Live Run, always has good cooking tips and recipes.

Spinach Feta Turkey Burger

As soon as I read this burger recipe, I knew I was going to make them. I made them first with feta, then modified the recipe only slightly, and substituted the feta for goat cheese. Both burgers turned out great!

Old Fashioned Charm- Sugar Cookies

For dessert, I made sugar cookies. These were DELICIOUS! And very easy to make. I shared a few cookies with my friends, who also agreed this cookie recipe is a keeper!
