Day 362: December 28, 2011

While traveling to both Kansas and PHX, I had plenty of time to read! I've heard many great recommendations about The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and with the movie currently in theatres, it was the perfect time to read the book, before seeing the movie.

The book was great! I'm anxious to see how it was made into a movie.

Day 345: December 11, 2011

After reading the Holiday Book List 2011 (book recommendations from one of my favorite blogs, Eat Live Run), I ordered How to Love an American Man: A True Story. This is the perfect time of year for reading, before the rush of busy season in January!

Day 318: November 14, 2011

I am thankful that as a child, my mom taught me the love of reading! As an adult, I love nothing more than getting so engrossed in a book that I can almost feel apart of the book, get to 'know' the characters, and feel a sense of sadness when I finish reading the book. This year, since I bought my Kindle I've read so many amazing books. It's hard to pick out a favorite... but I'll try!

Favorite Series: The Hunger Games
Favorite Jamaica Vacation Book: Water For Elephants
Favorite Book Turned Movie: The Help
Overall Favorite: Redeeming Love

Day 287: October 14, 2011

On my trip to Boston, I started and finished Danielle Steel's newest book- Happy Birthday.
I love celebrating birthdays! This book was full of plenty of birthday fun!

Day 257: September 14, 2011

In case it wasn't clear, I LOVE my Kindle. Since I got it in May, I've been reading non-stop.
I quickly finished Mockingjay, the third and final book in the three part series. I really enjoyed reading this book series. I am anxiously looking forward to the release of the Hunger Game movie in 2012.

Day 251: September 8, 2011

During the long holiday weekend, I spent time reading The Hunger Games Trilogy. I quickly finished the second book in the three part series, Catching Fire.

The book ended suddenly, with a cliff hanger, so I immediately had to start the next book in the series. I'm trying to take the last book with a slower pace because I don't want the series to end! Thankfully, there are more books in the sea.

Day 245: September 2, 2011

I read The Help while on vacation in Jamaica this summer. I couldn't wait to see how the book was turned into a movie.

My mom and I went to see it together and we both loved the movie! The characters were just like I imagined them when I read the book. I loved the 1960's dresses- maybe I was born in the wrong era.

Day 242: August 30, 2011

I just finished The Hunger Games, the first book in a three part series.

It was the perfect book to read while traveling on my tri-state trek through the Midwest. I could not put this book down. I was even late to work one day because I was so into the book. I'm looking forward to the next two books in the series.

Day 220: August 8, 2011

This summer has been perfect, allowing me to read plenty of good books on my Kindle.

Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger (author of The Devil Wears Prada), was the perfect book to read poolside, while patiently waiting for my pizza dough to rise.

Day 211: July 30, 2011

The first Harry Potter book came out in 1997, right before I started middle school and ever since then I was hooked to the series. The first movie was released in 2001, while I was a freshman in high school. The final book came out in 2007, when I was a junior in college on an internship living in Houston. The final movie was released this year, 2011, now I'm an adult, graduated from college, with a full time job and working in Dallas. My mom and I read each book and saw every Harry Potter movie together. This past October, we went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando. It was fun sharing our love of the Harry Potter series together.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter

My mom and I saw the final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II and it marks the end of the Harry Potter era. I grew up with Harry Potter. Now, I'm fourteen years older from when the series first began, but I still love the books and movies and it will forever be apart of my childhood.

Day 207: July 26, 2011

This summer I've read many good books, so far this one is my favorite.

"Love the Lord your God, and love one another. Love one another as He loves. Love with strength and purpose and passion and no matter what comes against you. Don't weaken. Stand against the darkness, and love. That's the way back into Eden. That's the way back to life."
— Francine Rivers, Redeeming Love

Day 195: July 14, 2011

I love getting new (and useful!) apps for my iPhone. And if the app is free, that is just icing on the cake. I read about Goodreads from one of my favorite blogs, Eat Live Run. I noticed on the website that it was also an app, so I downloaded it and LOVE IT!

It keeps track of the books you've read, you can rate books, see what your friends are reading, create a 'to read' list, read book reviews...the list continues.

Click here for my Goodreads profile.

Happy reading!

Day 179: June 28, 2011

I started reading a new book- The Violets of March and I can't put my Kindle down! I read a book review on the Eat Live Run blog. I've read a few other books she's recommended and enjoyed them, so I powered up my Kindle and bought it and I haven't been able to put it down since!

Day 178: June 27, 2011

I prefer to read the book before I see the movie. During my Jamaican vacation, I read Water for Elephants. The movie has been out for some time now, so it was already playing at the local dollar theatre. The movie was good, of course it was changed some from the book, but it wasn't changed too much.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Help movie, it comes out in August.

Day 167: June 16, 2011

I put my new Kindle to good use in Jamaica. I finished four books while relaxing on the beach.

I was even able to take the Kindle out on the ocean to read while I sat in a floatie. The Kindle even floats!!

The Paris Wife: A Novel

44 Charles Street

Water for Elephants

Faking It

I enjoyed all of the books and I'm loving my Kindle!

Day 156: June 5, 2011

I LOVE my new Kindle. I just finished reading my first book on it, "The Help".

The book was recommended by one of my cycle friends. I love finding new authors! This was Kathryn Stockett's first book, but I hope she writes another book soon!

Day 145: May 25, 2011

HAPPY KINDLE DAY!

Today, my Kindle arrived in the mail and I couldn't be more excited!!

Day 127: May 7, 2011

I love reading. It is one of my favorite ways to relax. My mom recommended a book, "All my Patients have Tales". It is a book written by a vet about his many humorous stories related to his patients and his career. It was a great book- I laughed and even had a few tears. Of course I had company- Frankie loves laying in bed with me while I read.

I think I could write a book about all of the funny things my clients have done or said and the experiences that I've learned in public accounting!

Day 19: January 19, 2011

As an external auditor, I have the opportunity to see a lot of really interesting things about my clients. Learning things about my client's business is the most interesting part of my job.

A book was recently published about one of my clients. It must wait patiently until the storm of busy season passes.
