Day 363: December 29, 2011

While in PHX, I took advantage of the warm weather and ran outside, around my Grandma's community. The scenery was beautiful, there is just something about mountains that is just breathtaking.

Day 344: December 10, 2011

After a couple weeks of cold, chilly, and rainy weather, Saturday the sun was out and it got to over 50 degrees!! I took advantage of the weather and went for a run outside, rather than running on a treadmill at the gym. I'm training for The Big D Climb in January and my FOURTH half marathon in March. Nothing warms my spirit up as much as a good run outside.

Day 339: December 5, 2011

Post race, I am enjoying a day of rest. Luckily this time, no ice bags are needed for my knees!

I won't rest for long, as this week I'm starting to train for my FOURTH half marathon. I'm looking forward to running the Dallas Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon on March 25, 2012.

Day 338: December 4, 2011

Today is race day!!! Someone must have forgot to tell mother nature, because she made it a cold, wet, windy, and rainy day to run! By the time I finished my 5 mile leg, I wasn't sure if I ran or swam, and my leg (leg 2) was all up hill!! My mom is such a trooper, she came to watch me start and finish my leg, while braving the traffic and the weather. She's the best cheerleader ever.

It was fun to participate in my first relay. I'm looking forward to my next big race in March 2012!

Day 336: December 2, 2011

The White Rock Marathon Relay is just two days away. So that makes today my 'Last Chance Workout'. Bob and Jillian would be so proud. I ran 4 miles and I think I'm ready for my 5 mile leg on Sunday.

I don't watch The Biggest Loser religiously, however I do try to catch a few episodes a season. It is inspiring watching people change their lives, for the better. I'm known for tearing up during almost every episode. It is truly amazing watching someone who once thought running was impossible run and FINISH a marathon.

Day 319: November 15, 2011

I am thankful that I am healthy, and able to enjoy running and riding my bike. It is not only a great way to get exercise, but fun to do with family and friends!

Day 191: July 10, 2011

I got into running during busy season 2010. I don't love running as much as I love biking, but I've made amazing friends through the sport. This weekend, I attended a farewell party for one of my dearest running buddies; Joel and his wife are moving out east for a new job opportunity.

I ran my first half marathon March 28, 2010- the Inaugural Rock 'n' Roll in Dallas.

I've since ran two more, one in Disney World, October 2010, the Inaugural Wine and Dine Half Marathon.

And the 2011 Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in Dallas on March 27, 2011. Four days before my client issued its financial statements.

Due to a challenging busy season, I had very little time to train for my third half marathon. Joel offered to 'bandit' the course and run the first 8 miles with me, even though he ran a full marathon just a week before. He kept me on pace and entertained for the first 8 miles. He snapped the picture of me above around mile 7. My next 5.1 miles were certainly quieter, and far less enjoyable. Nonetheless, I finished the race. And went to work the next day, with very sore legs. I'll miss running with Joel.

I'm planning to run my fourth half marathon on March 25, 2012.

Day 152: June 1, 2011

Today, I went for nearly a 3 mile run down Katy Trail after work.

I made a pit stop at Katy Trail Ice House. This is a great place to meet friends, enjoy a beer or Sangria and relax after work or after a run (or both!). I went back in April and have been back several times since.

Day 100: April 10, 2011

I did the Big D 5k on Sunday morning with my friend Jessica and her sweet husband Reed. We had a great time running and the weather was beautiful!

Day 86: March 27, 2011

2011 Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon

Mom's such a great cheerleader. She came with me and cheered me on as I crossed the start line.

I met up with an old running buddy, Joel, who paced me for the first 7.5 miles. We had a great run together.

Afterwards, my knees were burning. But I felt great that I accomplished my race goal and even set a personal record! Third half-marathon is the charm.

I had a great time. I'm already looking forward to running in this race again next year. It's a tradition now!
